A custom silicone prosthesis is a profound investment in your comfort and confidence. Because our Cosmetic Silicone Prostheses (MCA) are made from premium, medical-grade silicone, they are highly durable. However, to maintain their lifelike appearance and ensure a long lifespan, proper daily care is essential.
Here are the best practices for maintaining your prosthesis:
Daily Cleaning Routine Just like natural skin, your prosthesis needs to be kept clean.
Wash daily: Clean your prosthesis at the end of every day using warm water and a mild, fragrance-free, pH-balanced soap.
Avoid harsh chemicals: Never use alcohol-based cleaners, bleach, or abrasive scrubbing pads, as these can break down the silicone and strip away the meticulously hand-painted coloring.
Dry thoroughly: Pat the prosthesis dry with a lint-free towel. Ensure the inside is completely dry before wearing it again to prevent skin irritation.
Handling and Wearing
Gentle application: When putting on or removing your prosthesis, roll it gently. Avoid pulling or stretching the thin, delicate edges, which are designed to blend seamlessly with your skin.
Watch out for stains: While our silicone is highly resistant to everyday wear, certain substances can cause permanent staining. Be cautious around fresh ink (like newspapers), dark unwashed denim, and strong dyes.
Nail Care If your prosthesis features custom acrylic nails, you can paint them using standard nail polish! Just be sure to use an acetone-free nail polish remover when changing colors to protect the underlying silicone.
With a few minutes of care each day, your Prosil-tech prosthesis will continue to provide comfort and uncompromised realism for years to come.
